"Poetry and Music that Transcends Time and Space"
Wolfgang String Quartet was established in 2005. Back to that time, the members were fresh and young adults who just graduated from the college or were reading for the master degree. Laura and Mindy were the violinists, Jerry was the violist and the cellist was Peng-yun. Coming from different back-grounds, they were con-nected by a common dream to get on the stage to express their passion by performing classic music.

Like every student from music schools in Taiwan, teaching little kids music became the major job option. The musicians were also music teachers. They started giving concerts as a string quartet for their students. In 2006, they went on to NTSO chamber music competition and got into the finals. It really provoked inspiration to them. In 2007, Wolfgang String Quartet got the oppor-tunity to cooperate with Philharmonic Radio Taipei on a project of Mozart. In May, 2009, they were invited by Deram-phony orchestra to give a series of con-certs. In Dec., National Palace Museum invited them for a project on Saturday night at NPM.

This time Wolfgang String Quartet and pianist Chiu-ling Lin will present some of the most beautiful and interesting pieces from Haydn, Brahms and Bartok. Various combinations are used in this concert. Haydn and Bartok's string quartets will meet with Brahms' piano quintet.

These three composers are so famous for their great music accomplishment. Many people must have heard one or two of their works and had some thoughts or feelings about them. Brahms is a passionate man with a solemn heart; Haydn is like a good father and Bartok is the modern dissonant. They came from different ages but with the same love for music. Their melodies and songs are like letters to their dear friends, which won't get old as time passes by.
